Commissioning a Painting from Isabelle

Did you know that you can have Isabelle Vavasseur paint a picture for you from a photo? Yes, indeed, it's true and she is happy to do so knowing that it is somehow important to someone. It could be a particular landscape where you live, a captured moment with your child or loved one, a portrait of a friend, an animal companion, a scene from a trip, a spring garden, or even a favorite interior setting.

I have learned about the value of commissioned paintings firsthand from Isabelle. At first I had assumed that a good photo of an occasion or subject was all you needed for its memory. But when I started to handle these commissions I witnessed something entirely different. A photo certainly documents an occasion or subject, but there is something missing between the medium and the viewer. Then I saw how Isabelle transforms a photo into a painting, and I immediately understood what was missing. The painting reaches out to the viewer and communicates an impression that is absent in the photo. Now I am a 'believer' in the value of an image transformed into a painting by an artist.

Below are some recent examples of commissioned paintings by Isabelle.

The French town of Gordes from a travel photo.

A California coast sunset viewed from the front porch of a family house.

A couple dancing at a memorable gala event.

Findhorn village in Scotland during a vacation.

Pregnant woman as a gift to gynecologist.

Couple afield in nature.

If you are interested in trying a commission, there's more good news: Isabelle offers a no-risk policy. That is, you can commission a painting but are under no obligation to purchase the final result if it does not meet your expectations. And that means, no questions asked.

How can she afford to do this, you might ask? (Well, I did at least!) Her response was immediate. First, she is confident she can not only satisfy her client, but even exceed their expectations. Secondly, if in the rare case when this does not happen, Isabelle is confident she can sell the painting on her own. As you can see she doesn't see any risk on her part in doing a commissioned painting.

How to get a price
Follow these simple steps:
1) Send the photo you want a painting of (preferably in jpg format) to d.shibut@free.fr (if you can, say why it is important to you.)
2) State what size you want the painting to be, either in inches or centimeters.
3) Include your contact information especially your name, address, country, e-mail address, and telephone number.

Last step
We will send you a total price for the painting. If you are in agreement, Isabelle asks you to send her an enlarged paper print of your photo (at least 5x7" or 8x10"). This ensures that she sees all the details in the image.

Best wishes,
